Past in the present

When there is something that is a significant part of your memories from yesteryears.. formative years more so, you tend to want to do it over and over again. That can be a pattern of behaviour, that can be the songs you heard, that can be the food you ate, that can be the kind of people you grew up being fond of, that can be the kind of life you wanted for yourself. You want a replay of yesteryears to be embedded in your present somewhere. Some people want it very consciously, some people don't know they do.. but they too want a replay of the fond memories somewhere embedded in their day to day life. When it doesn't happen you find yourself looking for something that is missing. You may have had the most tumultuous childhood, but they were your golden years. They were when you were a naive innocent person. They were when you didn't think life had to be this tough. You want reminders and assurance that life is still good.

Hope it turns out to be that way for all of us.

Good luck. Dream on. :)

Love,
Doublelifer.

Hey Nidhi,

Long time, eh? Frm past to present again. :D

I dunno..I hv to disagree..I'm more tuned towards the fabulous possibilities of the future rather thn the laurels of the past.. I think life is wht u make it out 2 b.. the goodies of the past..them just a trailer of the better things thts gonna cum in ur life... like Rocky sez, "It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward"

thrz another sayin "today is the start of the best days of ur life" => Big believer :)

Rock On, Nidhi..glad 2 hv u back
:)

Couldn't have put in much better word's. World of advertising is good example of showing audience the possibilities of future while still deeply rooted in nostalgia. all the mother's recipes and homestyle cooking adverts are good example. And everybody correlates with those feelings.
Human nature is ironic, every person always goes back to nostalgic memories and wants to relive them... Good to see your post after a lifetime :)

@R-A-J Yes, I am back again. :) I absolutely get what you're saying. And I am a big believer in both of these two. Except, I am not talking about being hung up on the past. I am talking about little reminders of it.. Like Mom's cooking for instance. Or would you rather look up to the future for grander food? :)
Thanks for stopping by! Thanks for the comment. :)

@Unsui - Yes absolutely! And aren't we all nostalgic when we see those bajaj scooter and amul butter ads on tv? :) Thanks for dropping by! Good to see your comment! :)

there is something that has happened in our past, in our yesteryears that is memorable and leaves us wanting for it more and more...

I think its better to dissolve the classification and just keep close the things that make us happy; whether it be a memory from the past, a happening in the present or a dream of the future :)

kids cant wait to grow up and make their own choices; adults wish they could go back to being young so that they can undo all the wrong choices they made.
